There are lots of hikes we like to take around our land. The main one is a deer trail that starts behind the yurt and goes down the hill to the middle bench where the tree-fort is. Here we are heading down: Laura holding Sophia, Scotty and Anya. The yurt is behind us to the right.

The photo on the left is looking down that trail and the one on the right is looking back up the trail. As you get lower down in elevation, the land becomes increasingly wooded.

When you reach the bottom of this path, the tree-fort is to the left. Straight ahead is a stand of trees. Beyond the trees is a steep rocky bluff overlooking Alder Creek. This is one of my favorites places to go.

The tree-fort was built by a neighbor kid years ago. Sometime we'd like to replace it with a really nice one for the kids but they still like to come here to play.

Just beyond the tree-fort (to the south) is a spot I call Glassy Point. I came here early one morning after a light snow when there was still a heavy mist in the air. Doe Haven is just barely visible in the distance. This is another of my favorite spots.

Looking down from Glassy Point, you can see Alder Creek. If you round the point and follow the deer path down and to the right, you will come to a series of log bridges Bob laid down to cross the creek. The path on the opposite site is quite steep and leads up to Rattlesnake Rock where I come across two rattlesnakes one time. Check out the critter log #2 if you want to see a photograph of them.

The creek is dammed by beavers so it is more a wet-lands habitat than a fast-flowing creek. We see lots of signs of beaver - like tree stumps shaped like pencils. See the critter log #1 for a picture. The creek is especially lovely in the winter.

On the left, is the path back up to the 7 acre parcel. Looking down from the middle bench in the picture below, you can see Alder Creek through the trees.

The 6 acre parcel is south of the 7 acres and beyond that is Golden Doe Ranch. See the photo album for pictures of Golden Doe. We often take hikes down there.
